She whispered into the tops of their heads, brushing the hair out of their faces with her fingertips. “Tomo mi mano,” she sang, as they walked out into the sacred waters together. I didn’t look it up to translate. I didn’t have to. The act of being held, of holding, is universal.

These simple moments the way they hold hands without even realizing it as they read together before bed are everything. We are guests in their home, and tonight I had to stop and collect these tiny pockets of life with my camera because my heart was aching from how beautiful it all is. Everything.
